Kolobrzeg - seaport, seaside resort and a popular tourist destination - is one of the most popular Polish health resorts on the coast of the Baltic Sea with the highest concentration of iodine.
The natural healing power of iodine and salt has been known for thousands of years and is still used today also in mainstream medical practice.
Kolobrzeg is one of the oldest cities in West Pomerania and a famous spa location with natural salt springs. It is a bath with medically effective moors, a seaside resort with a fine sandy beach and one of the largest and most famous health resorts in Poland. Its development to a seaside and health resort began with the foundation of a bath for brine and moor treatments in 1803. Today Kolobrzeg is a modern and diversified city with some 50,000 inhabitants that doubles during the summer due to numerous tourists.
The city is subdivided into several districts: the fishing and the commercial harbour, the modern center for trade and supply of services with several stores, art galleries, cafes and restaurants as well as the health resorts which are located at the seaside. The boardwalk at the seaside is a very popular place for recreation. It leads along the numerous health resorts, hotels and restaurants. Near the beach there is a large spa garden with many old trees. In this green oasis, after returning from the sunny beach,you can always find a cool and shady place.
The wide beach in Kolobrzeg is known for its particular fine-grained sand.
The climate is conditioned by the sea. The extraordinary clean air which consists of iodine and ferric is used to cure different medical conditions, especially respiratory diseases.
